All of you is welcome here

Hi, I'm Alyssa, and I'm so glad you are here.

I come to this work with great gratitude and humility for the role that therapy has played in my life. I'm someone who genuinely loves connecting with people and being a part of their growth. I show up as myself, not as someone hiding behind a clipboard. I bring humor when it's welcome, compassion when it's needed, and a steady presence no matter what you're holding.

Outside the therapy room you can usually find me writing poetry, practicing yoga, or spending time in nature. I believe that life is both messy and beautiful, and I try to meet it (and the people in it) with openness and heart.

My Approach

Now that you know a bit about me, what does that mean in our work together? Well, that looks different with each client.

Numerous studies have found that the most reliable predictor of therapeutic change across orientations is the relationship between the client and therapist (Flückiger, Del Re, Wampold, & Horvath, 2018). I take this to heart and am committed to showing up as a human in the room—accompanying you on your journey to wholeness, whatever that means to YOU. My job, as I see it, is a professional relationship builder. I hold the belief that within each of us, there is an innate tendency towards growth - that beyond our wounding, our trauma, our beliefs, and our shame, there is a part of us that knows wholeness, a part of us that has never been wounded, waiting to come forward given the right environment. I see and wholeheartedly trust in that part.

In other words, I trust in you.

That said, I certainly believe in the efficacy of theory and modalities and draw upon them in sessions. I have extensive training in Somatic Psychology, Gestalt, Integral Counseling, mindfulness, and trauma-informed techniques. I am inspired by humanistic, transpersonal, existential, experiential, and relational approaches.

"I don't believe in good or bad people, I believe in people who are committed to knowing their own wounds intimately."
